Fire Safety Requirements

When working with fireworks make sure your store is safe

Before you start your shift, you should always do a walk about through your store to check that required safety and fire regulations are being met.

No Smoking Signs are in place
Fire extinguishers are tested and mounted in accessible locations
All building exits are clear of any blockage
Make sure that all fireworks being stored or on display are in a dry area out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat.
Never exceed a total of 1000 kg gross mass of fireworks in your display and storage areas within the store at one time.
Firework’s storage areas must be locked except if a responsible person is keeping watch.
Call your manager if any of your fireworks are contaminated by chemicals or water.
