F.1 Consumer Fireworks are broken down into 2 categories: Aerial and Non-aerial.

The main differences are:

  • Aerial fireworks propel into the sky, while
  • Non-aerial fireworks remain low to the ground.

The main types of Aerial fireworks are:

  • Roman candles
  • Comets
  • Cakes
  • Barrages

The main types of Non-aerial fireworks are:

  • Fountains
  • Mines
  • Ground spinners
  • Strobes

Approved Fireworks
Canada has specific labelling requirements including:

  • Distance from the spectators
  • Height of the effects
  • Who imported the fireworks and their company address
  • A part number or product name authorized by the Federal Government
  • Safety and disposal information
  • Labels must also be in English and French in order to be approved in Canada.

Illegal Products
If you have any concerns as to the validity of your products, you can search the List of Authorizations to see if your item is approved for use in Canada.
