Rules for UsersrnrnAcquisition and StoragernrnAcquisitionrn354 (1) A user who is at least 18 years old may acquire, store and use consumer fireworks, whether or not they hold a licence. A user who acquires consumer fireworks must comply with this Division.rnrnStorage u2014 licensed userrn355 (1) A user who holds a licence must store their consumer fireworks in the magazine specified in the licence.rnrnStorage u2014 unlicensed userrn355 (2) A user who does not hold a licence must store their consumer fireworks in a dwelling or a *storage unit and ensure that the requirements of sections 356 and 357 are met.rn* Terms preceded by an asterisk are defined in section 6.rnrnStoragernDefinition of Dwellingrnhttps://www.nrcan.gc.ca/explosives/acquisition-storage-and-sale/9815rnrnAll or part of a building or structure that is kept or occupied as a permanent or temporary residence, and includes:rnrna building within the curtilage of a house that is connected to it by a doorway or by a covered and enclosed passageway, andrnrna unit that is designed to be mobile and to be used as a permanent or temporary residence and that is being used as such a residence.rnrnMaximum quantity u2014 dwellingrn356 (1) The maximum quantity of consumer fireworks that may be stored at any one time in a dwelling is 10 kg.rnrnMaximum quantity u2014 storage unitrn356 (2) The maximum quantity of consumer fireworks that may be stored at any one time in *storage units, whether in a single unit or in several, is 1000 kg.rnrn* Terms preceded by an asterisk are defined in section 6.rnrnStorage requirements u2014 dwellingrn357 (1) When consumer fireworks are stored in a dwelling, they must be stored away from flammable substances and sources of ignition, in a manner that protects them from theft and ensures that access to them is limited to people authorized by the user.rnrnStorage requirements u2014 storage unitrn357 (2) When consumer fireworks are stored in a *storage unit,rn(a) the storage unit must be located in a dry place, away from flammable substances and sources of ignition;rn(b) the storage unit must be constructed and maintained to prevent unauthorized access and to protect the contents from weather;rn(c) if the storage unit is a container, it must not impede exit in case of fire;rn(d) if the storage unit is not a container, all exits must be unobstructed;rn(e) any shelving in the storage unit must be constructed from a non-sparking material (for example, wood or painted metal);rn(f) nothing other than consumer fireworks may be stored in the storage unit;rn(g) the storage unit must be *attended when it is unlocked;rn(h) the storage unit must be kept clean, dry, organized and free of grit;rn(i) any spill, leakage or other contamination in the storage unit must be cleaned up immediately;rn(j) precautions that minimize the likelihood of fire in or near the storage unit must be taken; andrn(k) a sign that displays the words u201cDanger u2014 Fire Hazard/Risque du2019incendieu201d in letters at least 10 cm high and that prohibits smoking using letters, or a symbol, at least 10 cm high must be posted on the storage unit in a clearly visible location.rn* Terms preceded by an asterisk are defined in section 6.rnrn rnrnStorage in a Dwelling (for consumer use only)rnrnRegulationrnNo more than 10 kg may be stored in a dwelling.rnAlways store consumer fireworks in a cool, dry place away from flammable substances and sources of ignition.rnStore in a manner which protects them from theft and ensures that access is limited to the people authorized by the user.rnKeep fireworks away from children.rnCheck the manufactureru2019s instructions for special handling directions.rnYou must not store fireworks for sale in a dwelling.rnrnUsernInstructionsrn358 (1) When using consumer fireworks, a user must follow the instructions of the person who obtained their authorization.
