Transportation – You have purchased some consumer fireworks, now how do you get them home?:
Transportation in a passenger vehicle
The road transportation of fireworks is governed in part by the Transport of Dangerous Good (TDG) directives of Transport Canada and in part by the Explosives Regulations, Part VI.
Smoking on, in, or while attending any vehicle carrying fireworks is prohibited.
Fireworks should not be transported in the passenger compartment of a vehicle. They should be transported in the trunk. Accelerants such as gas must not be carried in the trunk with fireworks.
The maximum quantity for transport in passenger vehicles for personal use is 100 kg (25 kg Net Explosive Quantity).
There is a maximum exemption that can be transported in passenger vehicles. For transporting quantities exceeding 150 kg in passenger vehicles, you must adhere to the TDG rules for appropriate transportation requirements. Anything over 150kg they should take a course on Transportation of Dangerous goods as this course does not cover that. What this means is that if you are taking more than 150 kg gross weight (which is equivalent to five (5) 30 kg boxes) you will be required to:
